Home decor and furniture retailers often struggle to help customers visualize how a product will look inside their actual living space. Traditional product photos and static catalog images do not convey scale lighting color accuracy or spatial harmony leading to hesitation and abandoned purchases. The client faced constant returns and customer dissatisfaction because buyers made decisions based on guesswork and could not predict how items would fit into their room. Sales teams spent considerable time explaining dimensions and placement ideas yet customers still felt unsure. Another major challenge was offering a powerful AR experience that worked seamlessly across devices without requiring high technical knowledge from the user. The client needed a solution that enabled customers to preview multiple items, mix and match collections, test different layouts and instantly switch between décor styles without professional support. The challenge became even greater when the client requested realistic shadows, accurate product scaling, and smooth performance on mobile devices, especially for international customers with varying device capabilities.

  Solution

VR Labs Studio developed a fully interactive Augmented Reality app that allowed users to visualize furniture and décor items directly inside their own rooms through their mobile device camera. Using advanced AR mapping and surface detection, the app identified floors, walls and available space with precision. Customers could place sofas, tables, lamps, curtains, wall art and decorative pieces in real time to see how each item fits their environment. The app included a true to scale model generator ensuring that every object matched its exact dimensions and proportions. Lighting adaptation technology allowed virtual objects to adjust to the natural lighting of the room for a highly realistic appearance. Users could rotate items, change colors, compare sizes and swap décor themes without any loading delays. As a child company of Krazio Cloud, VR Labs Studio powered the system with cloud based optimization, enabling high resolution assets and fast rendering even on medium range devices. The app also included a save and share feature so customers could store their favorite room setups or share them with family and décor consultants.
